AskLevi Acceptable Use Policy

Operated by Janus Legal Services (“AskLevi”) Applies to all users — both prospective clients and participating law firms.

Effective Date: [DATE] Version: 2.0

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs use of the AskLevi platform, including the intake widget, attorney directory, case marketplace, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this AUP. It supplements — and does not replace — the Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement (for clients) and the Attorney Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement (for firms).

1. Eligibility

Clients: You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to form a binding agreement, or have a parent or legal guardian submit on your behalf.

Firms: You must be a law firm or attorney lawfully authorized to provide legal services in your jurisdiction(s) of practice, in good standing, and in compliance with the eligibility requirements in the Attorney Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement.

2. Acceptable Use — All Users

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and to provide accurate, truthful, and complete information. You will not misrepresent your identity, authority, professional status, or the facts of any matter.

3. Prohibited Conduct — All Users

You may not:

  • Submit false, fraudulent, or intentionally misleading information, or matters you know to be without factual or legal basis;
  • Use the Service to harass, threaten, defraud, stalk, or harm any person;
  • Upload malware, viruses, or other harmful code; attempt to breach, test, or probe the security of the platform; scrape, crawl, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service; or interfere with its operation or availability;
  • Access another user’s account, data, or submissions without authorization;
  • Use the Service to violate any law, regulation, court order, or third party’s rights (including intellectual property rights);
  • Circumvent usage limits, billing mechanisms, hold caps, scoring systems, or other platform controls;
  • Use automated means (bots, scripts, scrapers) to access the Service except through APIs or integrations expressly provided by AskLevi;
  • Impersonate AskLevi, Janus Legal Services, or any participating firm or attorney.

4. Additional Rules — Clients

  • Submit only information you have the right to share and that is truthful to the best of your knowledge.
  • Understand that submitting a matter does not create an attorney–client relationship with AskLevi or any firm, and does not preserve any legal deadline (see the Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement, Sections 2, 3, and 5).
  • Do not submit matters solely to test, disrupt, or game the Service.
  • Do not submit the same matter through multiple intake channels simultaneously to manipulate case matching.

5. Additional Rules — Firms

  • Maintain active licensure, required insurance, and good standing; promptly notify AskLevi of any disciplinary action, malpractice claim, loss of good standing, or change in jurisdiction rules affecting participation.
  • Use only client representation agreements that comply with applicable ethics rules. Do not use predatory, unconscionable, or misleading terms.
  • Make all fee-division disclosures to clients required by your jurisdiction and obtain written informed consent before the fee obligation arises.
  • Do not manipulate case holds, scoring, directory placement, or the marketplace. This includes artificial hold-and-release cycling, submitting false attestations, or any conduct designed to circumvent platform controls.
  • Honor your obligations on accepted matters. Do not abandon Referred Matters or fail to communicate with referred clients.
  • Directory tiers (Member, Vetted-Preferred, Sponsored) must be used as designated. Sponsored placement is available only to Vetted-Preferred firms and must not be represented to clients as an endorsement of outcomes or quality by AskLevi.
  • Do not solicit or accept matters from the platform in jurisdictions where your participation in the fee-sharing arrangement is prohibited or restricted. Refer to the Jurisdiction Eligibility Schedule (Schedule A to the Attorney Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement), available at [SCHEDULE URL], for current classifications.

6. Data, Privacy, and Confidentiality

6.1 General Obligations

All users must handle information obtained through the Service in accordance with applicable privacy, confidentiality, and data-protection obligations. Do not use client data or case information for any purpose other than evaluating or handling the relevant matter.

6.2 AI and Automated Processing

The Service uses automated tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs), to process intake information, assess and score potential matters, and facilitate case matching. All users acknowledge that:

  • Intake information is processed by AI systems hosted on cloud infrastructure;
  • AI-generated assessments, scores, and evaluations are aids to decision-making and are not legal advice, legal opinions, or guarantees of case merit or outcome;
  • Client data is not used to train AI models;
  • AI processing is subject to the confidentiality protections described in the applicable governing agreement.

Firms are responsible for ensuring that their own client disclosures accurately reflect the use of AI in the intake process.

6.3 Firm Data Obligations

Firms must safeguard client information consistent with their professional duties and applicable Rules of Professional Conduct. Firms must not use client data obtained through the platform for marketing, solicitation, or any purpose unrelated to the referred matter without the client’s separate informed consent.

7. Intellectual Property

AskLevi and Janus Legal Services retain all rights in the platform, software, branding, and proprietary content. You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service as intended under the applicable governing agreement. You retain rights in content you submit but grant AskLevi a license to use it to operate the Service (including AI processing, case matching, and referral operations).

8. Enforcement, Suspension, and Termination

We may investigate suspected violations of this AUP. We may suspend or terminate access for any violation, for client-protection reasons, or as otherwise permitted in the governing agreements. We may remove content or matters that violate this AUP. Where practical, we will provide notice before suspension, but we reserve the right to act immediately where client safety or platform integrity requires it.

9. Reporting

Report suspected violations, security issues, predatory firm conduct, or concerns about the Service to [ABUSE/CONTACT EMAIL]. AskLevi takes reports seriously and will investigate in a timely manner.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskLevi disclaims all warranties and is not liable for the conduct of any user, firm, or attorney. AI-generated assessments are not guaranteed. Liability limits in the applicable governing agreement apply.

11. Changes

We may update this AUP. Material changes will be posted with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to changes, you should stop using the Service.

12. Governing Law

This AUP is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
