AskLevi Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement

Operated by Janus Legal Services (“AskLevi,” “we,” “us,” “our”) A law firm licensed as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) by the Arizona Supreme Court

Effective Date: [DATE] Version: 2.0

PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY (not a substitute for the full terms below): You’re using AskLevi to describe your legal situation. We are not becoming your lawyers. We collect your information, evaluate your potential case using automated tools (including AI), and connect you with an independent law firm that may take it on. If a connected firm earns a fee on your matter, AskLevi receives a share of that firm’s fee — this does not increase what you pay. You can stop at any time before signing an agreement with a law firm.

1. Who We Are

AskLevi is a service operated by Janus Legal Services, a law firm licensed as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) under the rules of the Supreme Court of the State of Arizona. Janus Legal Services includes both lawyer and non-lawyer ownership as permitted under Arizona’s ABS framework. The ABS license is what permits the fee arrangement described in Section 7.

2. What This Agreement Is — and Is Not

This is NOT an attorney–client engagement agreement. By using AskLevi, you are not retaining AskLevi or Janus Legal Services to represent you in any legal matter. AskLevi will not serve as your lawyer, co-counsel, or attorney of record. We do not provide legal advice.

This Agreement authorizes us to:

  • Collect and evaluate the information you provide about your potential legal matter;
  • Use automated tools (including artificial intelligence and large language models) to assess, organize, and score your information;
  • Refer you and share your information with one or more independent law firms that may agree to represent you;
  • Share referral-related information with the originating firm whose intake tool first captured your submission (see Section 6).

The decision to represent you rests solely with the receiving law firm. No attorney–client relationship exists between you and any firm until you and that firm sign a separate written representation agreement.

3. Your Status and Our Limited Duties to You

Although we are not your attorneys, we recognize that by submitting information about a potential legal matter, you may be considered a “prospective client” of Janus Legal Services under Arizona’s Rules of Professional Conduct (ER 1.18). This means we owe you limited duties regarding the information you share with us, even though no attorney–client relationship is formed.

Specifically, we will not use information you provide to us in a way that would be adverse to your interests, except as necessary to operate the referral service described in this Agreement. We will not represent parties adverse to you in the same or a substantially related matter based on information you provide through the Service, unless appropriate safeguards (such as screening) are in place.

However, these limited duties are not the same as the full duties owed by a lawyer who represents you. We are not monitoring your matter, protecting your deadlines, or advising you on your legal rights. Those responsibilities begin only when a law firm formally agrees to represent you.

4. No Guarantee of Representation or Outcome

We do not guarantee that any law firm will accept your matter, that a case exists, or that any particular result will be achieved. Nothing provided through the Service is legal advice. Automated assessments (including AI-generated case evaluations and scoring) are organizational aids only and are not a legal opinion on the merits of your matter.

5. Time-Sensitivity and Statutes of Limitation

Legal claims are subject to deadlines (statutes of limitation and statutes of repose). Submitting information to AskLevi does NOT stop, pause, or preserve any deadline. We are not responsible for monitoring or protecting any deadline. You remain solely responsible for any applicable deadline until a law firm formally represents you and confirms in writing that it has accepted responsibility for your matter.

6. Your Information — Confidentiality, Sharing, and AI Processing

What we collect: You will provide information about your potential legal matter, which may include personal details, descriptions of events, injuries, damages, and related documents.

How we process it: Your information is processed using automated tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs), hosted on cloud infrastructure. These tools organize, assess, and score your information to facilitate case matching. Your information is not used to train AI models.

Who we share it with: You authorize us to share the information you submit with:

  • Prospective law firms being considered for your referral, for the purpose of evaluating and potentially accepting your matter;
  • The originating firm whose embedded intake tool first captured your submission (limited to referral-tracking information necessary to operate the fee arrangement described in Section 8);
  • Our service providers who assist in operating the platform, under confidentiality obligations;
  • As required by law or court order.

We treat your information as confidential and limit sharing to the purposes described above.

Important limits on privilege: Because we are not representing you and no attorney–client relationship exists, you should not assume that communications with AskLevi carry attorney–client privilege protections. Privilege attaches once a law firm formally agrees to represent you. You should avoid sharing information with AskLevi that you would not want disclosed to prospective firms for evaluation purposes.

7. How AskLevi Is Paid (Fee Disclosure)

You will not pay AskLevi any fee for this service.

If a law firm we connect you with represents you and earns a legal fee on your matter, that firm shares a portion of its own earned fee with AskLevi/Janus Legal Services. This fee division:

  • Is paid by the law firm out of its fee, not added on top of what you pay;
  • Does not increase your total legal fees beyond what you agree to with the firm;
  • Is calculated as a percentage of the firm’s earned fee (not the gross settlement or your net recovery), on a sliding scale that decreases as the fee amount increases;
  • Is permitted because Janus Legal Services is a licensed Arizona ABS and operates in compliance with Arizona’s Rules of Professional Conduct.

The specific fee division and its terms will be disclosed to you in writing by the representing firm as part of your representation agreement with that firm, and you must consent to it there. That firm-level disclosure is required by the Rules of Professional Conduct governing the firm, and AskLevi’s disclosure here does not substitute for it.

You acknowledge and consent to AskLevi receiving a share of the firm’s fee as described. You also acknowledge that you have been informed of the fee arrangement before submitting your information.

8. Originating-Firm Fee Arrangement

In some cases, your intake was first captured through an embedded widget on another law firm’s website (the “Originating Firm”). If a different firm ultimately represents you, AskLevi may share a portion of AskLevi’s own fee with the Originating Firm. This share comes out of AskLevi’s portion and does not increase the total fee you pay or reduce the representing firm’s fee.

9. Your Right to Choose and to Withdraw

You are free to accept or decline any referral. You may retain any lawyer of your choosing, including one not connected through AskLevi. You may withdraw from this process at any time before signing a representation agreement with a firm by contacting us at [CONTACT EMAIL].

If you withdraw, we will stop sharing your information with prospective firms but may retain records as required for compliance and legal purposes.

10. Consumer Protection Commitment

AskLevi screens participating firms, including review of their representation agreements, to reduce the risk of referrals to firms with predatory or unconscionable terms. This screening is a risk-reduction measure and is not a guarantee. It is not a substitute for your own careful review of any agreement before you sign it. You should consult with an independent attorney if you have questions about any representation agreement.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskLevi and Janus Legal Services disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and disclaim liability for the acts, omissions, advice, or outcomes of any independent law firm to which you are referred. AI-generated assessments are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose.

Our aggregate liability arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount, if any, you paid us for the Service (which is generally zero). This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Insert dispute resolution / arbitration / venue provisions as advised by counsel.]

13. Changes to This Agreement

We may update this Agreement. Material changes will be posted with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to any changes, you should stop using the Service and contact us to withdraw.
