AskLevi Terms of Service
Operated by Janus Legal Services (“AskLevi,” “we,” “us,” “our”) A law firm licensed as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) by the Arizona Supreme Court
Effective Date: [DATE] Version: 1.0
PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY (not a substitute for the full terms below): These Terms are the agreement for using the AskLevi website and services. AskLevi uses an AI assistant to take in your legal situation and connect you with an independent law firm — we do not become your lawyer and we do not give legal advice. Clients pay AskLevi nothing. If you’re a law firm, additional terms apply. Please also read our Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the AskLevi platform, including our website, the Levi AI intake assistant, the embeddable intake widget, the attorney directory, the case marketplace, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who We Are
AskLevi is operated by Janus Legal Services, a law firm licensed as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) under the rules of the Supreme Court of the State of Arizona. The ABS license, which permits both lawyer and non-lawyer ownership, is what allows the fee arrangement described in Section 8 and in the governing agreements referenced below.
3. What AskLevi Is — and Is Not
AskLevi helps people describe a potential legal matter through an AI-guided intake, organizes and assesses that information using automated tools, and connects them with independent law firms that may agree to take the matter on. AskLevi also provides participating firms with an intake widget, a directory listing, and a marketplace of released cases.
AskLevi is not a law firm engagement for users of the Service generally, and the Service is not legal advice. Using the Service does not create an attorney–client relationship with AskLevi, Janus Legal Services, or any participating firm (see Section 6).
4. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract, or have a parent or legal guardian act on your behalf. Firms must meet the eligibility requirements in the Attorney Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement. If you create an account, you are responsible for the accuracy of your information and for safeguarding your credentials, and you are responsible for activity under your account.
5. The Agreements That Govern You
These Terms incorporate the Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) by reference. Depending on how you use the Service, additional agreements apply:
- Clients (people seeking legal help) are also governed by the Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement.
- Firms (participating attorneys and law firms) are also governed by the Attorney Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement and its Jurisdiction Schedule.
If there is a conflict, the more specific agreement (the Intake Authorization for clients, or the Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement for firms) controls over these Terms for the subject it addresses; otherwise these Terms and the AUP apply.
6. No Attorney–Client Relationship; No Legal Advice
Nothing on the Service is legal advice, and no attorney–client relationship is formed by using it. No attorney–client relationship exists between you and any law firm until you and that firm sign a separate written representation agreement. Submitting information through the Service does not stop, pause, or preserve any legal deadline (statute of limitations or repose). If you are a prospective client of Janus Legal Services, the limited duties we owe you are described in the Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement, Section 3.
7. AI and Automated Processing
The Service uses automated tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs), to conduct intake, organize and assess information, score potential matters, and facilitate case matching. AI-generated assessments and scores are aids to decision-making — they are not legal advice, legal opinions, or guarantees of case merit or outcome. We do not use your submitted matter information to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for how your information is processed.
8. Fees and Payment
Clients do not pay AskLevi any fee to use the Service. If a law firm we connect you with represents you and earns a fee on your matter, that firm shares a portion of its own earned fee with AskLevi; this does not increase what you pay. The specific fee division is disclosed by, and consented to with, the representing firm. The full client fee disclosure appears in the Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement, Sections 7 and 8.
Firms pay for the Service as set out in the Attorney Referral & Fee-Sharing Agreement and any applicable plan or order. Firm fees are non-refundable except as expressly stated there or required by law.
9. User Content and License
You retain your rights in the information and materials you submit (“User Content”). You grant AskLevi a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, use, reproduce, and process your User Content as needed to operate and improve the Service — including AI processing, case assessment, matching, and referral operations — consistent with the Privacy Policy and the applicable governing agreement. You represent that you have the right to submit your User Content and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
10. Acceptable Use
Your use of the Service is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits, among other things, false or fraudulent submissions, harassment, security probing, scraping, circumventing platform controls, and impersonation. Violations may result in suspension or termination under Section 18.
11. Intellectual Property
AskLevi and Janus Legal Services retain all rights in the platform, software, branding, and proprietary content. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service as intended. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service except as expressly permitted.
12. Third-Party Firms, Services, and Links
Law firms and attorneys reachable through the Service are independent third parties. AskLevi does not practice law through them, does not control their advice or conduct, and does not guarantee any outcome. A directory listing or match is not an endorsement or a guarantee of quality or result. The Service may also link to or rely on third-party services (for example, cloud hosting, AI providers, payment processing, and bot-protection); your use of those may be subject to their own terms.
13. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. For clients, the Client Intake Authorization & Disclosure Agreement describes the specific consent to share intake information with prospective firms.
14. Jurisdictional Availability
The Service is offered only in the United States and only in jurisdictions where AskLevi operates. AskLevi does not currently operate in certain states; the current list is maintained in the Jurisdiction Schedule. We may decline or discontinue intake and referrals based on jurisdiction.
15. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ASKLEVI AND JANUS LEGAL SERVICES DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any matter will be accepted, or that any AI-generated assessment is accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose. We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, advice, or outcomes of any independent law firm.
16. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ASKLEVI AND JANUS LEGAL SERVICES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR LOST DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. Our aggregate liability arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (which, for clients, is generally zero) or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AskLevi and Janus Legal Services from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or the governing agreements, to the extent permitted by law.
18. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms, the AUP, or a governing agreement; for client-protection or platform-integrity reasons; or as otherwise permitted by the governing agreements. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 9, 11, and 15–17) survive.
19. Changes to the Service and to These Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Service, and we may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the Service.
20. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Insert dispute resolution, arbitration, class-action-waiver, and venue provisions as advised by counsel.]
21. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, the AUP, the Privacy Policy, and the applicable governing agreement are the entire agreement between you and AskLevi regarding the Service.
